EP 103: The Fading Magic of Christmas

Clinton and Marcus Episode 103

Christmas is always kind of whatever for me. As I reflect on the holiday season, I can't help but feel that Christmas has a darker side that many people overlook. Once you become an adult, the magic of Christmas seems to fade. The excitement of receiving presents as a child is replaced with the reality of adult responsibilities and the weight of the year coming to an end. The joy of the holiday season is often overshadowed by the stress of shopping, family gatherings, and the pressure to create the perfect holiday experience. I find myself reminiscing about the carefree days of childhood, where Christmas felt like a magical time filled with wonder and joy. Now, as a 36-year-old adult with no kids to buy for, Christmas feels like just another reminder that time is passing by. The days are shorter, the nights are colder, and the festive cheer can sometimes feel forced. I can't help but notice how many horror movies are set during Christmas, like 'Krampus' and 'Black Christmas,' which adds to the gloominess of the season. It's a time when we are supposed to feel joy, yet many of us feel a sense of dread as we navigate the complexities of adult life. I also want to share my favorite Christmas movies, which include classics like 'Home Alone' and 'Batman Returns.' These films remind me of the joy of the holiday season, even if they have their darker elements. So, as we approach Christmas, I encourage you to reflect on your own feelings about the holiday and consider how it has changed for you over the years. Let's embrace the good and the bad parts of Christmas together, and maybe find a little joy in the process.
